What is "Open Studio" and who can visit or use it:
1) Adult students and artists can use the space to work on their own projects and / or to improve their skills (assuming they are able to work independently.
2) Open for gallery visits / purchase, tours and experiencing the artists at work
3) Private lessons and baby hand and feet keepsake scheduled activities
The open studio hours will always be monitored by at least one of our instructors. The users will be able to use our equipment (wheels, slab roller, extruder), glazes and firings.
Who can work during open studio: Those with basic pottery or sculpting skill level (required to be verified by our staff) that are able to use the studio independently. If you do not have enough experience to qualify, it can be acquired by attending one or more of our 8 or 6-week pottery classes or by taking a series (minimum of five) of private lessons.
Note that we use cone 6 buff stoneware clay. If you prefer to use a different clay (e.g., Porcelain or Terra Cotta), further discussion is required.
All ceramic work is subject to glazing and firing fees and charges are the same fees we charge our students.
Firing process for non-students is described in this link. Having your own tool set is required (we have them in stock).
