Lakeside Pottery is offering a Professional Development course for teachers with little skills or knowledge in ceramics or those that have not done it for a time & need a refresher.

The course could cover the following topics:

  • History of pottery
  • Various pottery techniques (e.g., hand building, potter's wheel, functional pottery, sculpturing, glazing)
  • How to design the ceramic projects to meet the class needs (lesson durations, tools available, age group and more).
  • Occupational Health & Safety
  • Kilns & firing processes (electric, gas, raku & more)
  • Using clay as therapy
  • Setting up your studio and choosing materials and firing methods

Note: the course can be customized to your specific needs and schedule

Course duration: can be designed to your schedule and availability

Private lesson: The above material can be conducted with an individual or up to three teachers through a set of private lessons. We have successfully trained individual art teachers to meet the schools ceramic requirements which enabled the teacher to be hired for the position and perform it successfully.

Additional benefits: Teachers who complete the above course and then decide to learn pottery at greater depth to gain more experience, can enroll in our 8-week pottery making programs. They will receive 20% discount in addition to 10 free open studio hours during which they can come and practice what they have learned.

Cost: Will be determined case by case
