| A frequent question we receive from our students and web visitors is: How much clay amount do you use for a specific thrown pot's dimensions? The table below illustrates estimates of clay weight in Lbs. per pot's dimensions. If you are just starting, perhaps you want to add 25% for thicker walls on bottom. The amount of clay will change depending how tall you plan the pot's foot to be and how much trimming it requires. The larger the pot is, the more clay you will need per cubic inch due thicker walls to proportionately reflect the pot's size. |
